We're launching the dreams of future STEM leaders! ๐Ÿš€

On May 9, 2026, The Boeing Company in partnership with the California Science Center hosted STEM Signing Day, celebrating 26 outstanding high school seniors from South Los Angeles and Boyle Heights as they committed to pursuing STEM majors in college or postsecondary training programs.

From engineering to science and technology, this next generation of innovators was recognized for their achievements and dedication to shaping the future. Students celebrated alongside their families, received certificates and financial awards, and heard inspiring words from Boeing Defense, Space & Security Vice President and Chief Engineer Michelle Parker and California State Assemblymember Sade Elhawary.

The event also featured powerful stories from Claudia Pinedaโ€”a former Science Center teen intern now working as a Boeing Flight Test Engineerโ€”and retired NASA astronaut Garrett Reisman, reminding students that their dreams are within reach.

Here's to the next generation of STEM leadersโ€”your journey is just beginning!

Hands-On Science Camp offers an unparalleled experience for Pre-K through 8th grade students with Educators from a variety of backgrounds, opportunities to explore the Science Center's interactive exhibits, live demonstrations and hands-on learning, as well as cutting-edge spaces for experimentation like our 32,000 sq. ft. Big Lab.

A student all the way from North Dakota was kind enough to send us their graduation announcement with a personalized letter. In it, they wrote: "In summer 2024, my family and I visited your Science Center while on vacation. Although California has a lot to offer, especially when we live in a state filled with endless fields, my favorite memories from this trip are from this Science Center. As a kid, I was fascinated by space. I remember my dad pointing out constellation for me in our front yard. This love for space has continued as I've gotten older. I'll never forget how stunned I was to see the Endeavour in 2024. It brought me back to my childhood when my only dream was to become an astronaut. Thank you for such a memorable summer...and for reigniting my passion for space."
