Founded in 1922, Demaray Electric served the Mankato community from its longtime home at 519 S. Front Street for 65 continuous years. Brothers L.M. and George Demaray opened the business, and after L.M.’s death, George and his wife, Betty, continued operating the shop. Following George’s passing in 1975, Betty kept the business running until 1987, when it was sold and became Denco Electric on North Riverfront Drive. Known for handling “Anything Electric,” Demaray Electric wired homes and churches while also selling ceiling lamps, lighting fixtures, and table lamps. George worked in the back repairing fixtures, while Betty greeted customers and managed the front of the store.
