such a beautiful day today it was. The Sun, the precious winter sun, blessing this day bright like a diamond reflecting on this incredible snow like sugar. Sweet powder. so rare.
But, I was working on this swamp painting, another night painting. Good Harbor Creek backwaters. Is it spooky? Well, I still have a lot of fixing to do on it, but so far it's drawing me in to its mystery.

I have been making ornaments at the Gallery for years now so I guess they may number in the hundreds. Does it sometimes become tedious to make a batch of 30 to 50 ornaments at a time? Well, kind of, but if the right music is playing then in no time at all (seemingly) I have 6 or 7 layers stacked up between newsprint and hardboard waiting to get to that magical state of leather hardness where they can be smoothed and finessed.
Its amazing how many steps these little doodads take to bring to fruition but at least our wonderful customers seem to like them enough to make me always keep making more.
So this year this is what they look like on the tree among the lights. Maybe thats a little bit arty. I hope so.

Lately,
It's all about patterns.
But, My patterns do not compete with the patterns of seeds layed out in a sunflower in some perfect mathematical formula. Maybe I like things less precise, inviting randomness within the structure. Is that where magic can happen?

Happy Halloween! I spent the day glazing pots down at the studio today and made a lot of progress. It won't be long before I load the last of my wares into the glaze firing. It should be interesting as I'm trying out some new glaze combos. We can't wait.

It's also the last weekend we'll be (officially) open until June 1st 2026. Where does the time go? We will be busy doing lots of art projects down there until then. We can always be open by appointment.

We got a lot of exciting things (well, exciting to us potters!) out of the kiln yesterday. The fall glaze load. I had fun making these little creamer bottles and Vicki made these little sugar bowls to go with them. ( There are lids for them but they didn't fit this kiln load. They will be in the next one)

Oh my God, it's been a glazey crazy couple of dazy days in the studio. oh yeah, the stormy weather was good for making Spirits of the North today. I love those thunder boomers. Kate made the little guy and I made the bird thing . I have two more mounts and I need to get busy with more spirit heads.
