We had to replace the propeller on 23. Through a long journey of research, advice, and shopping, we ended up with a pristine replacement prop. The new prop is the same model (wooden Sensenich). Thanks to all the folks at HQ Commemorative Air Force who gave advice. We learned a lot about the options for props, but in the end it made sense to jump on an excellent deal on a pristine replacement for our wood prop. We love the look of the wood propeller, even if it's leaving some performance on the table over the metal options. We also ended up with some nice spare parts for the Stearman. Today, we installed the new prop, test ran, then flew the airplane. It was great to see it back in the air. Our maintenance officer lost his hat during the flight, but faithful 23 caught it for him and he was able to get it back (see pic). Thanks to Robbie Vajdos for all of his help and advice. For those who are local, 23 will be on display (and probably available for rides) on December 16th at the flyin happening at Harrison County Texas Airport KASL . We hope to see you there.
