At the age of 85, American artist Alice Matzkin began an entirely new artistic chapter, moving away from the realistic portrait paintings she had been known for over decades. According to a feature published by the Los Angeles Times, Matzkin lost nearly 100 of her artworks in the California wildfires of 2017, a devastating event that deeply impacted her life and artistic journey. In recent years, she turned toward abstraction and freer use of color, proving that creativity and reinvention can emerge at any stage of life.
