Drawing is the foundation of Vicente Dopico Lerner’s practice, where line becomes instinct and structure. Through watercolor, he expands that gesture into fluid, expressive compositions.

“…The strength in the sketching of Dopico-Lerner’s work is found in spontaneity. He leaves all as he does it. He decomposes the form and recomposes it with an intellectual and emotional charge...”
Candido GerĂłn, art critic

Artwork : Reina de ases, 30 x 22”, watercolor & ink on paper, private collection.

Contemporary Cuban artist Vicente Dopico-Lerner (1943-2020) was born in Havana.

Closing March 6, the exhibition by Alexandre Frangioni invites us to reflect on what remains when we are no longer here. Through symbols such as flags, games of chance, and safes, the works question memory, legacy, and the contradictions between the values we proclaim and the lives we lead.

In the end, the artist reminds us that what truly remains are the marks of our actions.

In small-scale paintings, framing is particularly significant. It establishes proportion, permitting the work to command space beyond its physical dimensions.

For over 14 years, we have worked with the same professional framer new york
because excellent framing is relevant to how a painting is read and preserved.

Our longstanding collaboration, allow each work to be presented with consistency, and care.

Professional framing matters !!

A selection of works by Alexandre Frangioni examining globalization, symbolic representation, and the role of material language as a conceptual framework within contemporary societies.

Work in Video: Flag of Brazil I, 2020 21.6 x 31 x 2 in ( 55 Ă— 80 Ă— 5 cm ) Angelim wood, automotive paint, acrylic disc, arrow, vinyl adhesive, and metal tubes.

With this artwork, the artist structures a roulette wheel; the work replaces numerical outcomes with themes historically and culturally associated with Brazil. By reconfiguring the national emblem as an apparatus of chance, Frangioni constructs a critical and conceptual space in which the contradictions and evolving narratives of Brazilian identity are tangible.

Abstract in composition yet figurative in presence, watercolor and ink reveal three women’s silhouettes through expressive, fluid strokes. In Dopico-Lerner’s hands, these mediums become instruments of power, shaping feminine forms that awaken emotion on paper.

Contemporary Cuban artist Vicente Dopico-Lerner (1943-2020) was born in Havana.
