💰 Lost treasure. Burning warships. A battle so legendary it inspired Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

In 1702, the waters of Vigo Bay became the scene of one of history's most dramatic naval clashes as Anglo-Dutch forces attacked a Franco-Spanish treasure fleet loaded with riches from the Americas. The battle left ships shattered, fortunes lost, and treasure hunters searching the bay for centuries afterward.

Did Captain Nemo's "inexhaustible fishery of gold and silver" have a basis in reality? Discover the fascinating true story behind the Battle of Vigo Bay and the real events that captured Verne's imagination.

Jimmy Buffett’s legacy comes full circle as the City of Mobile prepares to honor him with a waterfront statue by nationally renowned sculptor Ben Victor.

As part of the creative process, Victor has crafted a detailed wax sandal model that will help bring Buffett’s iconic laid-back style to life in bronze. Every element, down to the footwear, is carefully shaped by hand before the final sculpture is cast.

Here’s a sneak peek at the work in progress as this tribute begins to take shape. 🎶🌴
