What did May look like?

It looks like families discovering local history.
It looks like weddings and events beneath historic trees.
It looks like community gatherings around the table and creating together.
It looks like visitors walking through our museum for the very first time.
It looks like an appreciation for our beautiful gardens by taking the perfect plant home.

And so much more.

Thank you for being part of the full story!

May is Preservation Monthβ€”a time to celebrateβ€”and actively care forβ€”the stories and spaces that shape our community.

At the Cooper Adobe museum, preservation means conserving original materials, restoring historic structures, and sharing the stories that bring them to life.

This month, explore our newest resource: Preserving History: A Field Guide to Art and Architecture in Monterey by Cynthia Wagner Weick, Amelia Ward, and Joaquin Turner. The field guide features along with several historic residences, churches, and significant buildings in Monterey. A wonderful companion as you explore and learn Monterey’s history.

Stop by our museum, discover something new, and see preservation in action.
