Recently, the MMFA team had the opportunity to visit the AARDT Foundation and learn more about the meaningful work they are doing to support creativity, community, and access to the arts.

We’re grateful to Michael Strauss for being such a gracious host and docent, guiding us through the space and sharing more about AARDT’s vision and collection.

Thank you to the AARDT Foundation for welcoming us. We’re excited to continue building connections with organizations that are helping shape a more creative and connected Alabama.

Here’s what’s coming up at MMFA on May 15 and 16 ✨

Join us for Meet Me: Street in Tangier on Thursday, May 15, a 30-minute gallery talk exploring one work from the Museum’s permanent collection. Then on Friday, May 16, families are invited to take part in the STEAM Family Sculpture Workshop, a hands-on program focused on balance, stability, and structural design through creative building.

Whether you are stopping by for a thoughtful moment in the galleries or bringing the family in for an interactive workshop, there is something to look forward to at MMFA this week.

Tomorrow at MMFA: Mini Makers: Art in Nature 🌿

Designed for children ages 2–5 and their caregivers, this hands-on class invites little ones to explore how artists are inspired by the natural world through landscapes, floral still lifes, movement, sensory play, and nature-inspired artmaking. Weather permitting, the program also includes a visit to the Sculpture Garden.

This class is free through MMFA’s Access for All grant, and pre-registration is required due to the age range of participants.
