Happy Earth Day 2026. Are you familiar with the saying “there is no earth without art?” We wholeheartedly agree! Our dear planet, that we are all neighbors on, is art itself and we believe there is beauty all around on this orb in the sky. One artist who captures this beauty found in nature, in a vibrant and whimsical way, is donna.d.richardson Her use of bold color and playful brushstrokes are sure to bring a smile to your face. These pieces are but a small selection of all that we have available at our 1228 Madison Ave location. Any of Donna’s works would make wonderful gifts or a delightful new addition to any art collection. Le Flâneur: the Urban Spectator. In 1877, Gustave Caillebotte created "Rue de Paris, temps du pluie" (Paris Street; Rainy Day). Caillebotte was a flâneur, one who roamed the city, observing and absorbing its essence. Here, he gives some of it back to us. Housed at The Art Institute of Chicago, this is a large oil-on-canvas painting — almost seven-by-ten feet — and its figures are rendered life size. What scenes in Montgomery are worthy of the flâneur's (or flaneuse's) careful gaze?

Join DaNeal Eberly, tomorrow Sunday April 19, as she facilitates a Life Drawing session at Southern Art & Makers Collective. Participants will need to bring their own supplies (paper/drawing utensil's) and $20 to help cover all model and space rental costs. As this is a Life Drawing session, parents/guardian are required to accompany any student younger than 18.
***No admittance after 3:15***
Street Parking and parking behind Southern Art & Makers Collective in the grass area are available. Life Drawing happens every 3rd Sunday of the month, unless noted. We look forward to having you join us.

SOLD! "CG6" by Heather S. Parrish left the shop today. This 6" x 8.5" mixed-media collage is part of the Heather's Home exhibition currently on display here at SAMC. It features acrylic gouache on canvas board; paper ephemera including snippets from a vintage bingo card and ledger pages; as well as a security envelope, printed barcodes and a metal key. It's what Heather does, bringing it all together!!
