On view now at Nazarin Cucio in LA: Avital Burg: A Passing Shadow and a Vanishing Cloud

"The exhibition’s title is drawn from a line in a poem recited during the Jewish High Holidays, in which human experience is described as fleeting: “Like broken shards, like dry grass, and like a withered flower; like a passing shadow and a vanishing cloud, like a breeze that passes, like dust that scatters.” Burg’s paintings echo this reflection on transience by making such fleeting changes perceptible as they unfold over time."

On view until May 16

Nazarian / Curcio is pleased to present A passing shadow and a vanishing cloud , a solo exhibition of new paintings by Israeli-born, Brooklyn-based artist Avital Burg. The exhibition opens with a reception on Saturday, April 11 from 6 - 8 pm. This marks Burg’s first solo exhibition with the...

Opening May 14th at Kathryn Markel: "Charles Ritchie: Drawings from a Room"

As the artist writes: "My themes are interior, exterior, and reflection. At night, my window blends the streetscape with my studio’s reflection and I am intrigued with the merging spaces and associations that arise. Yet the pictures begin with the scene and aim to move deeper, beyond what is seen. Often the invisible is what is most evocative and by offering the viewer a context in which essential details are veiled, I leave things open to interpretation. Both night and daylight are often engaged for obscuring qualities."

George Nakashima (1905-1990), considered a giant of 20th century furniture design, was a leader of the American craft movement. His legacy continues through his daughter, Mira, who took the reins of the company he founded, Nakashima Woodworkers.

A reminder for anyone in Paris for the holidays that this marvelous exhibition, featuring the works of Jean Baptiste Sécheret alongside paintings by Monet, will be up at the Marmottan Museum. A must-see!

The Musée Marmottan Monet presents a unique tête-à-tête between Claude Monet and Jean-Baptiste Sécheret in the exhibition "Monet / Sécheret. Paysages d'eau", an artistic dialogue between Impressionism and contemporary painting, in the heart of Trouville and its changing skies. The exhibition r...
