Art imitates life, and occasionally life imitates art.

We caught this feathered visitor striking a pose beside one of our sculptures... and the resemblance was too good not to share. 🦆

Happy World Otter Day from our playful crew!

Thanks to the care from our phenomenal keeper staff, Brookgreen has been welcoming baby otters many years over. We're proud to currently care for four North American river otters here at Brookgreen, with another 16 otters, born here, now living at other AZA-accredited facilities across the country as part of a network of breeding loans. Together, these partnerships help support conservation, education, and healthy animal populations for the future.

You can see our otters in one of two enclosures dedicated to the species: our underwater exhibit and our outdoor habitat. Our outdoor habitat is fed by tidal creeks, allowing our otters to experience the same natural fluctuations in water level that their wild Lowcountry counterparts enjoy.

From their amazing swimming skills to their curious personalities, they make our guests smile every day and help connect them to the importance of protecting wetlands and wildlife.

Drop an 🦦 in the comments if you've ever stopped to watch the otters "just for a minute"... and stayed much longer.

Discover sculptures that honor our nation's heroes this weekend. 🟥 ⬜️ 🟦

Every Memorial Day weekend, we place American flags at each sculpture either created by a veteran, designed as a war memorial, or inspired by patriotic themes. You'll find that we have many in our collection!

Stroll the Gardens in a peaceful setting where you can remember and honor those who gave their life in service.

Tis the season for… Baby Turkeys! 🦃

As you drive through the property, please help us protect the wildlife that calls these Gardens home by driving slowly and staying alert. From turkey poults to turtles, deer, and more, native wildlife loves Brookgreen—and we love them too!

There is something especially meaningful about a garden that gives back.

Bethea's Garden is thriving with a variety of warm-season fruits, vegetables, and herbs, and the harvest is already making an impact. Yesterday, a tub full of fresh produce was delivered to our local food pantry, a reminder of how gardens can nourish both people and community.

We love creating spaces that are not just beautiful, but also purposeful. Next time you visit, take a stroll through Bethea's Garden and see what's growing this season.
