Staff Favorite! Director of Education, Kati's favorite work on display is "Rachel's Memento". She says, "This is my favorite artwork in the Justice and Hope exhibition because the colors are vivid and the layers of objects tell a story of childhood wonder, imagination, grief, and joy. The sail on the broken boat is still full of wind; this reminds me that even in the most devastating of times, hope and life remain. Although brokenness and loss are a part of life and losing those we love, we honor their memory best when we remember them in the fullness of their lives."

Samuel Bak, Rachel’s Memento, 2001
Oil on canvas, 40 1⁄8 × 30 inches
Private Collection

Student Worker Spotlight! Meet Tanatswa. She says, "I’m a sophomore majoring in secondary social science education with a minor in history. The Learning Center has given me so much joy! I especially love interacting with students during field trips; they bring lots of life to the space. Students who visit are very inquisitive when given a chance to look closely at the art, and their ability to make connections to their own lives is inspiring. When I’m not at the museum, I’m usually behind a camera, finding a new trail to hike, or making a playlist. I’m also on a mission to find the best store-made chai in Omaha and have found many fun cafes along the way!"
