🧵 Spend a peaceful, art-filled afternoon during Slow Sundays: Fiber Get-Together on Jun 7, noon–2 pm.

Bring your own fiber-related project (knitting, crocheting, embroidery, etc.) and enjoy a couple of cozy hours in our Community Room or find another place to perch—we have several comfy couches situated around the Museum. This is designed as an informal get-together for all ages (not an instructional program). Light refreshments provided. Fiber Get-Together is a free drop-in program with no registration required.

🧘Make a day of it by adding Slow Sundays: Yoga to your visit. This indoor, one-hour program for all ages and experience levels is held the morning of Jun 7, 10:15 am–11:15 am. Unlike Fiber Get-Together, Yoga requires registration https://bit.ly/YogaJun7

During Nights at The Joslyn on Thu, Jun 4, we’re celebrating the wonders of spring with activities that highlight works of art and natural beauty in the Museum’s galleries and gardens. Don’t miss this month’s fun from 5–8 pm:

• 6 pm Curator Conversation with Annika K. Johnson, PhD, Stacy and Bruce Simon Curator of Native American Art, and Cady de la Cruz, Curatorial Assistant, Native American Art.

• Performances by River’s Edge, a smaller ensemble of the River City Mixed Chorus.

• Watercolor sketching in the Discovery Garden.

• Art Cart station, and more!

Due to the generous support of Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program, “Through the Lens: American Photographs from the Carter Collection” is free to all this evening; always free to Joslyn members.

Did you know Jessie Henson’s work "Everything Comes Next," which shares its name with the title of the exhibition, contains approximately 800,000 feet of thread? 🧵

That’s over 150 miles stitched into a single work.

Using a sewing machine, artist Jessie Henson transforms thread and paper into vibrant abstract compositions that build on the legacy of postwar American abstraction while pushing embroidery into new territory. Her Riley CAP Gallery exhibition, "Jessie Henson: Everything Comes Next," features colorful sewn paper works alongside bronze casts made from found embroideries—each exploring the possibilities and history embedded within thread itself.

See it in person now through Jul 5 in the Scott Pavilion, Riley CAP Gallery S8; included in free general Museum admission.

It’s International Museum Day! This year, the International Council of Museums - ICOM has selected the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” highlighting the potential for museums to contribute to peaceful coexistence through dialogue and understanding. By safeguarding heritage and memory, offering learning and reflection, and welcoming all people, museums do not erase differences but create conditions in which differences can be understood and handled with respect.

This week, come connect at The Joslyn. Open Tue–Sun, 10 am to 4 pm; late until 8 pm on Thu. Free general admission to all, always.
