This week's adventure: we took a short drive down to Auburn University! Auburn University was founded in 1856 as East Alabama Male College. It underwent three more name changes before eventually becoming the university we know today.
"The Plains" is a nickname that has become fondly known to both locals and attendees. The college's history is more than just agriculture; it is the expansion of knowledge and spirit. The students and alums carry on the traditions and love for the Auburn Creed.

Auburn University shares its hospitality during sports season. If you ever find yourself at a Saturday Tailgate and want to know the score, expect to be invited in and have food in your hand.

January 21, 1921: the men of Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) gathered at the Red Barn to form the Alabama Farm Bureau that is known as the Alabama Farmers Federation. It will take four years for the Bureau to be established in all 67 counties in Alabama. This was for farmers to come together and forge a public policy and Agricultural education plan for the future farmers of Alabama. This program launched Alabama agriculture into bloom with technology, marketing, and outreach. In 1946, the Bureau became Alfa Insurance. This year, they will have served farmers and agriculturalists in Alabama for 80 years.

Hello Friends and Family!

This week's adventure led us to LaFayette, AL. In 1837, the courthouse was changed from a log building (1833) that once stood there into the brick structure it is today. Atop the building is a beautiful statue of a lady who watches over those who pass by and her citizens.

Going around the square highlights the city! This sign was painted by Jim Frank in 2024. This mural captures Lafayette's history in a way that lets it have its own moment.

The Lafayette Library was originally a Presbyterian church that was organized in 1935. The original building has stood since 1836!
