We are excited that the work of McRae Member Artist, Martha Jo Mahoney, is part of an exciting Our Orlando exhibit at the Mennello Museum of American Art. Tasanee Durrell & Mado Smith are also featured.

The show runs through August 16th. So make sure you stop in to the Mennello to see it sometime this summer.

Art isn’t just something to look at—it’s something to engage with.

* What might the artist be inviting me to notice or feel?
* What lingers after I look away?
* What questions does this piece leave me with?

* A texture that feels familiar
* A subject matter that stirs memories or reactions
* A pattern, shape, or detail that catches your attention

Join us for our Spring Open House on April 25th from 6-9pm — which kicks off a yearlong celebration of McRae Art Studios’ 40th anniversary.

Carla Poindexter, our newest Member Artist, is a fine arts professor at UCF. Her self-portrait invites viewers to expand their expectations of portraiture beyond “likenesses” to vast, free realms of self-expression.

She offers these thoughts about McRae:
“It is a place where artists from all backgrounds and all walks of life are free to express their art as they choose - without judgement, fear, or criticism from others. It is a safe place to create and thrive.”
