Why was the Emerging Artist Program developed for Oswego County?
Ultimately, this program is rooted in a simple belief- that artists thrive when they are seen, supported, and invited into meaningful dialogue. By investing in emerging artists today, we are strengthening the future of our creative community as a whole.

If you are still building your portfolio, gaining exhibition experience, or working toward greater visibility, you likely qualify. We encourage you to apply, there’s no charge.

Four days remain to apply for the first annual Oswego County Emerging Artist Program, a joint venture between Riverside Artisans and Art Association of Oswego.
What is an emerging artist? An emerging artist is any artist who is actively developing their practice and seeking to grow professionally (no, you don’t have to want to become a professional artist), regardless of age or background. This may be those new to exhibiting, transitioning into a more serious practice, or returning to art after time off (late starters, self-taught artists, or re-entering artists after a break). The individual should be willing to devote the time and effort to develop artistically. Please check out the website! Deadline to apply is May 31, 11:59 pm.

Oswego Emerging Artists, a joint venture between Riverside Artisans and the Art Association of Oswego, is moving full speed ahead! The application is open and waiting for you to check it out. The selected artist will receive a comprehensive support package, including a stipend, dedicated exhibition space, mentorship, and expanded networking opportunities. Oswego County is full of creatives! Are you one of them or know someone who is? Encourage them to visit the website, including the FAQs. There is no charge to apply; applicants need to be over 18 years old and a resident of Oswego County.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Oswego County.
