This is my theses piece from the University of Iowa. It's currently on location at the University of Iowa medical hospitals. Here I've shown the process of how I sanded bonded sand to create a mold of the piece in reverse. It's 3' by 8' made in 8 sections that stands about 2' tall. I painted it with John Deere paints. I haven't been back to visit it but someone sent me a photo of it in the snow a few years ago, saying how lovely it was that day. It's intitled: "From Cleves Creamery from Grandpa's Farm" as it depicts the road and landscape around my grandpa's farm as we would take the milk cans to the creamer just outside of Ackley, Iowa.

Chicken Feed, of the Amer-I-Can Series

"Chicken Feed" captures the quiet joy of farm life through the simple act of a young girl hand-feeling her favorite hen. Dressed in red boots and jeans, she leans into a moment of trust and connection, reflecting the kind of everyday responsibility and affection that grows naturally when you raise animals of your own.

Part of the "Ameri-I-Can series, "Chicken Feed" celebrates the idea that one of the best things about being American is the belief "I Can." I can nurture, I can care, I can lear, and I can grow.
