The Market at the Parkersburg Art Center is excited to welcome its featured artist this month, Chris Santer. Chris is a Parkersburg native who created his mountain paintings as both a love letter and a memorial to Appalachia. Using paint, charcoal and bituminous coal dust, he has created beautiful pieces of artwork that capture the spirit of the region.

Stop in and see Chris' work, and while you're here, check out what else is new.

The Market at the Parkersburg Art Center is your go to stop in downtown Parkersburg. Here you can discover new artists, support an entrepreneur, keep your dollars local, support your nonprofit art center, get your shopping done and have fun while you're at it.

Sunflower Kinusaiga will meet this Sunday. Register at the link below.

Kinusaiga is a traditional Japanese art form where fabric pieces are pressed into grooves cut into a foam board to create beautiful stitch-free patchwork. Adults can join Eryn in creating joyful sunflowers through a step-by-step process. No sewing skills required! 8 students.

Art on the Island: Mothman Busted Canvas

Join Tracy this coming Sunday for an artsy adventure creating this busted canvas with a painting of the Mothman lying in wait! We will use printed articles from the Silver Bridge disaster and stain them to look old. Lastly, we will bust our canvas for an interesting finished 3D piece. Take the 11am boat. Your registration here includes your boat ride and they will have a list at check-in. Snacks welcome or purchase from the snack bar there. Afterwards, enjoy some time on the Island! Adults and Teens 14+. Parents accompanying will need to purchase an additional Ferry Ticket at the Island Museum office prior to the class. 8 students.

Just THREE WEEKS until a day of total artful emersion: learning, networking, creating, and fun! Parkersburg Piccalilli: An Artists' Takeover is coming to the Parkersburg Art Center on Friday, September 18, 2026. Register NOW to reserve your spot!

Imagine spending a day making things, meeting fellow creatives, sharing ideas, and picking up a few tips on the business side of art. Better yet, don't imagine it. Join us for Piccalilli.

This year's keynote speaker and one of our workshop presenters is Rosalie Haizlett, a West Virginia-based nature illustrator, author, and educator known for her watercolor and ink illustrations of the plants, fungi, and tiny creatures that call Appalachia home.

Your conference registration includes breakfast, a catered lunch, access to all Friday programming, and the opportunity to display your work in a Pop-Up Exhibit.
Spend your day learning about the business side of being an artist, dive into hands-on art making workshops, or hop between the two. The choice is yours. Piccalilli is designed for anyone who enjoys art, from college students to hobby artists to professionals. Think of it as your art spa day.

The fun continues Friday evening with Art After Hours, the opening reception for the Allied Artists: 72nd Juried Exhibit, On & Off the Wall: ReStore ReDesign and Ki No Kaze: The Art of Bonsai exhibits, plus food, drinks, and a chance to network with others from around the state and beyond. It's also Meet Me on Market night, so pop-ups will be happening up and down Market Street from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
