Happy Father's Day! Today we honor the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who helped shape our families and community. In Paterson, fathers have long played a vital role in building strong neighborhoods and guiding future generations.
As we celebrate, let's also remember Paterson in 1965—a year of change, resilience, and community spirit. Here's to the fathers who helped lead our city through both challenges and triumphs.

🏛️ Honoring Paterson’s Civil Rights History this Juneteenth 🏛️As we approach Juneteenth, we celebrate June 19, 1865. That is the day enslaved people in Texas learned they were free.Here in Paterson, the fight for true freedom continued for decades. In 1965, the Paterson NAACP worked hard for inclusion. Led by leaders like Lucille Suffern, they made big changes.In 1965, the Paterson NAACP:Integrated local building trade unions.Organized rent strikes for fair housing.Registered many new voters.The Paterson Museum Foundation preserves these stories. History is not just in books. It lives in our community.Let us honor the past by building a fairer future.

Congrats! 🎉

The Hawthorne Historical Society held their June meeting last night in Goffle Brook Park. At the meeting the Society awarded their annual scholarship to Aiden Downey, who will be attending SUNY Oneonta to pursue a degree in history. Pictures left-to-right are Curt Carlough the Society's Treasurer, Aiden Downey, our scholarship recipient, Aiden Clancy Board Member, Andrew Hammond, our Viet Nam interpreter and Marillyn Rees, Board Member. We thank these fine young gentlemen for their dedication to preserving our Country's Veteran's history.

Creative Aging for Seniors Program Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park

Meet the artists for our upcoming Creative Aging Series!

Wafa Ayyad is a Palestinian Tatreez artist, educator, and cultural presenter. She learned the art of traditional Palestinian embroidery from her grandmother, continuing a practice that has been lovingly passed down through generations of women. Deeply committed to preserving this cultural heritage, Wafa has spent years teaching and presenting about Tatreez, sharing the history, symbolism, and stories behind its motifs with diverse audiences.
