is a non-profit corporation that started in 1989, giving tours of Pendleton's red light district. The tour was very controversial because part of the subject matter is about gambling, the Chinese, bootlegging and prostitution. In 1990, after opening the "Cozy Rooms" bordello, jails and the Opium Den, the tour became even more questionable. The history of legal and illegal businesses operating in t

he same area for over 100 years makes the tour unique and like no other tour anywhere. The history of the Chinese in Eastern Oregon and their role in building the west is also unique. The tour is entertaining and interesting to all ages from 6 years old to 95 years old there is something for every member of the family. has become Eastern Oregon's #1 year around tourist attraction. A tour that people once questioned, has now been featured on television and radio shows around the world. The great success and popularity of P.U.T. is the wonderful well-trained and educated Historians who guide tourists back in time to learn history that isn't taught in school, but was very much a part of the early west and the lives of our ancestors. 90 min guided tour reservations needed call 541-276-0730 cost is $20 per person ages 6-12 $15. We have scheduled tour times and require a minimum of 4 people to open a tour. reservations are held with a credit card we require a 1hr cancelation notice to waive any charges.

I want to thank everyone that did the Underground Comes to Live tour yesterday we hope you all had a great time! We want to thank our 75 plus volunteer actors that make this event possible every year, our tour guides, office staff, board members, and extra helpers we couldn't do it without you all! It was a great year and ran smoother than ever! Thank you to Cerebella Winery for allowing us to have lunch in their building Hill Meat Company for providing the pepper sticks in the Empire Meat Market, Proximo for proving the Pendleton Whisky in the Shamrock Bar, Admiral Beverage Company for providing pop for the actors and Rootbeer in the Shamrock Bar, Oregon Grain Growers Brand Distillery for providing the Huckleberry vodka in the prohibition cardroom, Hood River Distillery for providing the Vanilla Sinfire in the Duck pin Bowling alley, and Cerebella Winery for the Stella Wine in the Cozy Rooms. Last but not least we want to thank Vic Kucera for doing book signings in the giftshop.
