PROGRAM FOR MONTH OF MAY ⭐️

We had the opportunity to hear from Officer Steven Jenkins with the Texas Department of Public Safety. After serving 21 years in the military — 4 years in the Marines and 17 years in the Army — he has now spent the last 16 years as a State Trooper.

Officer Jenkins shared insight into the differences between city, county, and state law enforcement, explaining how dispatch determines which department responds based on the type and location of a call. He also discussed how Texas DPS is divided into regions and districts, with Perryton being part of Region 5.

We also learned more about the day-to-day responsibilities of a State Trooper, from traffic enforcement and accident response outside city limits to deployments across Texas for major public events, riots, and presidential security support.

Thank you, Officer Jenkins, for your service and for taking the time to speak with us today. We sure loved having you!

Meet our April young careerist Jacqueline De Santiago Herrera!

She currently works as an Accounting Clerk at FirstBank Southwest and is building her career in accounting and finance. Even though her degree is in Kinesiology, she’s grown into the finance world through hands on experience and continuing to learn along the way.

Jacqueline enjoys baking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. She’s especially proud of her role as an aunt to her four nephews Isaiah, Nathan, Noel and Benjamin and at home she’s kept busy by her three adorable dogs who run the house, Oakley, Bailey, and Marshal.

She is a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she volunteers and also assists in whatever is needed. She says her faith and family mean the most to her, and she encourages young careerists to stay curious, keep learning, and not be afraid to start somewhere new.

Congratulations Jacqueline! We enjoyed having you.

We had the pleasure of having Casey and Brandi Cowan come and talk to us about their business Watonga Cheese Factory. We heard about how they were able to bring the business to Perryton and how it all started.

They shared how they embraced the opportunity to continue that legacy by bringing the factory to Perryton, allowing a new community to experience their unique flavors and products.

They gave us insight into the cheese making process and the dedication it takes to keep everything running smoothly. It was especially inspiring to hear how much pride they take in their work and in serving their customers! Of course the highlight for many of us was getting to taste their amazing cheese and sausage.

Check out their store for many products including cheese, jerky, pickles, sausages, jelly, Because We’re Nuts products and more.

Thank you again to Casey and Brandi for sharing your story with us we truly enjoyed learning more about your journey!
