Let's explore the Grand Home!
The library features rich Arts and Crafts, oak paneling and arched book alcoves centered by a tiled fireplace and oak mantel. The couch and liquor cabinet in this room are pieces of furniture owned by Marland. Others are vintage selections of the period.

The large wall size oil painting which was painted in 1928 the "Fox Hunt" shows many participants in "Riding to the Hounds," as fox hunting was known.
The whole room is beautiful!

Let's explore the Grand Home!
Patriarchal bedroom-This room was most likely the bedroom of Mr. Marland. It was common in the day for wealthy individuals like the Marlands to each have their own suite with an adjoining private bath.
The bedroom area now displays artifacts representing the patriarchal societies of several of the local Native American tribes, most notable the Ponca, Osage, Kaw and Otoe-Missouri. Items include ceremonial clothing and moccasins, toys, musical instruments and pipes. Some displayd tell of the many uses of the deer and buffalo in tribal society.
E. W. Marland conversed often with the Ponca Indians, most notably Chief White Eagle, to secure leases for drilling wells. Chief White Eagle was much revered and a friend of Marland and the Miller Brothers of the 101 Ranch.

The red triangle Marland Oil Companies-"We started that during the war (WW I). I was doing much work for the YMCA. You know the symbol adopted by the YMCA is the red triangle. I wrote to them and got permission to copyright it for industrial purposes. Out of gratitude for what I had done for the YMCA, they gave me permission to use it,"-E.W. Marland-Oklahoma City Times-July 25, 1934 (while governor of Oklahoma)
