These beloved Midwest eateries still serve up oversized breakfasts, hand-spun milkshakes, and the kind of old-school charm that never really goes out of style. The Liberty Aviation Museum is deeply saddened by the loss of Museum member and volunteer Harold Douglass who left us too soon at the age of 93 last month. Harold was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served on the USS Missouri during the Korean War. Harold, along with his wife Dottie began volunteering at the Museum from the time we opened our doors in 2012. When we opened Hangar Two in 2015 Harold took on front lobby greeter duties while Dottie helped man the front desk in our Primary facility (which she continues to do!) Harold, normally known to be a man of few words was anything but that when he greeted visitors to our museum. His commanding, booming and stacatto voice took over and he would get up from his chair to take visitors for a tour of the museum. the normally quiet personna was overtaken by his true inner self of a very intelligent and kind man who truly loved his family and friends and love for his Country. He truly loved being here and sharing his knowledge with everyone he came in contact with. I personally want his family to know how much we both appreciated and loved Harold here. the photo here is a bit of a grainy one here of a young Navy Seaman but I think its one he would want us to remember him by- as a proud young man serving his Country. Fair winds and calm seas to you Harold. Say hello to my Dad (and fellow Navy veteran) when you see him. I am sure you will have a lot to talk about exchanging stories about time aboard ship. We love you Harold. Ed Patrick CEO LAM.

It’s interesting to note that Ed Patrick and Bob Fujita first met as Cub Scouts some 55 years ago!
