Shana Palmer | Full Circle: The Harmonic Sum of Current and Light

Exhibition Dates: September 15 - October 23, 2025

First Thursday Performances featuring Wild Strawberry, Francisco Botello, Stars without Make Up and Shana Palmer performing with The Tenses: Thursday October 2, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Closing Reception with Music and Sonic Arts student performances: Thursday, October 23, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Full Circle, an installation by the artist Shana Palmer in collaboration with Portland Community College’s Music and Sonic Arts program, immerses viewers in multiple feedback loops, foregrounding the importance of interconnection and the impact we have on each other and on our world. Circles are evoked throughout the gallery, via the quadraphonic sound that fills the space and the way viewers create new sounds as they close open loops.

Godhead Preview and Spicy Webmaster's Intro to Interactive Webcomics

Thursday, March 14, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
North View Gallery PCC Sylvania

Bring your story ideas and your imagination to this workshop about making interactive webcomics led by Carmi Tronci Bell, author of Godhead and creator of the Spicy Webmasters Discord. We’ll be creating a choose-your-own-adventure style webcomic together in real time using nothing but the stuff that comes free on your computer.

This event is free to all and organized in conjunction with a preview of Carmi Tronci Bell’s solo exhibition Godhead, which will open in the North View Gallery in January 2025. Visit the gallery windows from March 11-15, 2024 for a preview of the exhibition and come back on Thursday, March 14 for a workshop with the artist.

David Torres II
Sunkeepers 2 screening

Wednesday, March 13, 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
PCC Sylvania, CT 214, North View Gallery

Sunkeepers 2 is part of an Afrofuturist video series set in a fictional world that is trapped in perpetual war and suffering from historical amnesia after the fall of the Sunkeeper empire. Artist David Torres III draws on wide-ranging influences from anime, video games, Alain Resnais and his father's middle school drawings to immerse audiences in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred and inhabitants struggle to find their purpose governed by rules that are built on a forgotten past.

This event is part of the Refractions Screening Series made possible through a grant from the Regional Arts & Culture Council

The Refractions Screening Series features artists who use video, animation and performance to refract or bend narrative directions by exposing the complicated realities of cultural myths, colonization, protracted international wars, migration and the implications of past violence on potential futures.

Artist welcomes us back to winter term with her new show BATTLEGROUNDS. (January 8th - February 8th)

❌Please join us for the Opening Reception - This Saturday, January 13 from 3-6❌

BATTLEGROUNDS features recent mixed media paintings of figures that dance and struggle against forces both internal and external. A new series of rice paper banners additionally investigate the tension between the liberatory and colonizing practices of formal education.

Una Kim is the last of six artists and writers selected for an innovative residency program at inspired by an Obama administration laureate program. The residency was recently defunded, which makes this our final Artist in Residence exhibition.

In Korean, Una means embrace the world. And while the figures in Una Kim’s new work bend and twist to fit into the limiting structures of oppressive systems, they also open their arms to the world that surrounds them. Much of the work in this show is a response to the trauma of navigating battlegrounds built by others. Kim’s gestural marks create openness, even spaces of freedom, amidst the demands, rules and marching orders that bind so many in Kim’s universe. In this new body of work, Kim creates a visual intensity that expresses her feelings about the battlegrounds historically marginalized people in the US navigate on a daily basis.
