We are a vibrant hub for artists and visitors in the Pacific Northwest and extend our reach beyond the region through open calls and diverse exhibition opportunities. Central to our values is the establishment of an inclusive culture that upholds the rights, safety, dignity, and worth of every individual. Our commitment is to create a space that challenges systemic inequalities such as racism, transphobia, heterosexism, ableism, sexism, classism, and other forms of discrimination. Meet our Directors: John Whitten, Morgan Rosskopf, and Katherine Spinella, guiding the vision and direction of Well Well Projects. Together, we cultivate an environment that nurtures and supports the growth of artists we exhibit and represent. Join us on the first Saturday of every month from 5 to 8 pm for the opening receptions of new exhibitions. Our gallery is open to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 5 pm. 𝙎𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙩 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙨 is an interdisciplinary exhibition of works honoring grief and labor - manual, artistic, and maternal. Artist Catherine Reinhart encrusts, mends, and adorns abandoned textiles, creating modern relics from work gloves and domestic textiles. Haunting the borderlands of construction sites, vacant lots, and disheveled bedrooms, she explores thresholds to the unmonumental. By holding the damage in the mends, these objects become records of care and an archive of repetition.

Reinhart is a new member to Well Well and recently relocated to Portland from the Midwest! We’re excited to showcase her practice this September 💫

The gallery is transformed this month by Jessie Rose Vala into a theater of installation. Bathed in blue, the ceramic and video narratives entangle climate change, pop-esoteric imagery, and mythic vessels.

JΣƧƧIΣ VΛᄂΛ

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 is a theatrical installation that touches on a complex web of inquiries relating to climate change, industry-made chemicals, mytho-historical migration narratives, and pop-esoteric imagery.

It’s the last Saturday to see our current show 𝙈𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙨 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡 - gallery hours are 12-5PM.

A new exhibition cycle, four new members, and a fresh round of figuring it out together.

𝙈𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙨 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡 brings together the artists of Well Well Projects for a collective exhibition that celebrates the people who make this space possible. The title is equal parts shrug, rallying cry, and statement of intent. If we’re going to do this, we might as well do it well.

The work on view spans a wide range of mediums, ideas, and approaches. There is no single theme holding it all together beyond a cohort of artists who chose to share space, support one another, and contribute to the community of an artist-run gallery.

This exhibition is a snapshot of the collective as it exists right now: showing up curious and ambitious to embrace this chaotic adventure.

In Terroir, Brooklyn-based artist Torey Akers and Portland-based artist Jaydra Johnson interrogate desire in material terms, using want, rather than need, to unearth the buried histories of non-normative intimacy. Their work reinterprets classic expressions of longing such as the n**e, Victorian lover’s eyes, and stained glass.

In 𝙏𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙞𝙧, Brooklyn-based artist Torey Akers and Portland-based artist Jaydra Johnson interrogate desire in material terms, using want, rather than need, to unearth the buried histories of non-normative intimacy. Their work reinterprets classic expressions of longing such as the n**e, Victorian lover’s eyes, and stained glass.

The word “terroir” refers to the ecological environment in which w**e or other culinary items are produced, a nod to the inescapable marrow of place, physicality, and self. The term owes its etymology to a Latinate root that denotes both “earth” and “fright”, a reminder that terr-or and pleasure represent two sides of the same coin. Akers’ and Johnson’s practices both track the social construction of bodies, depicting what it’s like to miss somebody, real or imagined, at the end of the world.
