Note to Self by Annie Owens for her solo show “Late To The Party” this wonderful painting is 14X19, framed 21.75X26.75 and is watercolor on paper and is currently available at Brassworks Gallery. This solo show will be on view through 6/6/26 and we are open 3-8pm. This show and Annie’s other works can also be seen on our website, link in bio.

Late to the Party examines the complex connections that define familial relationships. The title implies that by the time we show up in our own lives, we are already weighed down by the baggage of those who came before us though some of that baggage was made of armor. How do we carry it without making it our whole identity

Today we are highlighting the spectacular work of UK-based, South African Artist Candice Tripp. Group Therapy is a dark and moody oil on canvas showing us the complex and true meaning of group therapy.

Candace levels her aim at the rationales people construct to justify their motivations and personal ethics. Her work examines how these justifications appear when the fuller picture is absent.
Working in both oil painting and sculpture, she presents raw, sobering themes as childhood interactions and narrative forms, playing with literality and the unvarnished truth, and explores how these might appear if conveyed by a child with only the barest facts. Tripp is interested in how our choices, ethics, and motivations look when the grey areas are removed.

While originally recognised for her richly detailed oil paintings and three-dimensional sculptures, Tripp’s practice has expanded to include etching, sculpture and large-scale installations. Her art crosses into other formats too; she created the award-winning cover art for Arrow Video’s re-release of the cult film Donnie Darko, as well as the vinyl soundtrack cover for Julia Ducournau’s Palme d’Or-winning film, Titane. She also creates magical works of Jewelry.

Candice work in on display at Brasswork Gallery and is part of the Breath Of Clover group show on view through 6/6/26 and can also be seen at our website, link in bio.

Today we highlight the haunting & moody work of Annie Owens for her show Late the Party currently on exhibition at Brassworks Gallery through 6/6/26 - you can see this striking body of work Wednesday through Saturdays 3-8pm or you can visit our website link bio.

Late to the Party examines the complex connections that define familial relationships. The title implies that by the time we show up in our own lives, we are already weighed down by the baggage of those who came before us though some of that baggage was made of armor. How do we carry it without making it our whole identity?

This collection of watercolors serves as a study of the generational inheritance of wisdom, love, and conflict. It reveals there’s an inherited version of self, shaped by “scripts” handed down by those who came before, and the authentic self that exists in the present.

We are obsessed with Night Shifter by Alex Reisfar for his work in Deep Cuts, the message this painting conveys in a time when the world was simpler and times were not filled with uncertainty while carrying around the weight of the unknow.

Alex Reisfar is a self-taught, Portland-based visual artist known for his eerie, dark surrealist paintings that blend intricate creatures with thematic explorations of death, the human experience, and socio-political issues. Alongside his fine art, Alex is highly regarded within the heavy metal and progressive rock scenes.

Deep Cuts is a 2 person show with Jason Borders currently on view through 6/6/26 at Brassworks Gallery. Our hours are Wednesday through Saturday 3-8pm. You can view this show in great detail both in person or on our website, link in bio. To learn about our interest free payment please send an email to [email protected]

Today we are featuring the art of Nat Erickson - their work Wisconsin Beef is part of the Breath of Clover group show, currently on exhibition at Brassworks Gallery through June 6th, 2026 - our hours are Wednesday through Saturday 3-8pm or you can view this show in great detail on our website, link in bio.

Recently - I sat with Nat and them to describe their work:

My work comes from wanting to create paintings that emotionally connect with people. I’m interested in vulnerability, transformation and the emotional experiences we carry as humans. Through symbolism and figurative painting, I try to create work that is emotionally charged, and deeply human. I use models from my q***r and trans community to express these ideas.
