BYOB : BRING YOUR OWN BEAMER

JUNE 4 | 7 - 11 PM

Here Rockford, 727 1ST AVE. ROCKFORD, IL

HERE and New Genres Art Space have partnered to produce a one-night participatory art exhibition that is the first of its kind in Rockford. BYOB (bring your own beamer) is a one-night exhibition in which anyone is invited to bring any kind of projector and project whatever they wish (non-commercial) onto any free space on the wall. The result is a room filled with different projected images—some moving, some still, some abstract, some narrative— from different projectors from the most modern, to overhead projectors, to film projectors.

What does BYOB mean?
BYOB is an acronym for “Bring Your Own Beamer”. In Europe projectors are often referred to as “beamers”.

Can anyone with a projector just walk in and join the exhibition?
YES! 1) Come with any way to project an image, video, film, ETC, 2) find some empty space on any surface 3)Then you plug in and project! 4) you have added to the exhibition!

Why BYOB?
BYOB is for anyone who is interested in moving light, sound and performance. Projection can mean many things. Projections are flexible and create a freedom to react to each other's works, move things around, and create a dynamic collaborative experience.
