Rockford/Winnebago County America 250 Souvenir Challenge Coin. Available at the hall while supplies last
In celebration of the Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States a limited-edition America 250 challenge coin has been commissioned. The obverse features the official America 250 emblem alongside the inscription “1852 Rockford, Illinois 2026,” recognizing the year of Rockford’s incorporation and the present day, as well as “1776–2026,” marking this historic milestone. The reverse displays the Winnebago County, Illinois seal. Strictly limited to just 250 individually numbered pieces, these coins are a true collector’s item. Three finishes are available: 100 gold coins at $25 each, 100 silver coins at $20 each, and 50 bronze coins at $15 each. In addition to public sales the coins are being offered to table sponsors of the “Dinner with the Founders” event at Veterans Memorial Hall on Saturday, June 27. Once sold out, no additional coins will be produced.
The 250th anniversary of the United States, known as the United States Semiquincentennial, represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reflect on the nation’s founding and its continued evolution. Rooted in the ideals expressed in the United States Declaration of Independence, this milestone invites communities to honor the people, events, and sacrifices that have shaped the country over two and a half centuries. It is both a commemoration of history and a call to engage with the future—encouraging civic pride, education, and meaningful dialogue about the values that define the nation today.
