This Saturday is going to be exciting! Join us in hearing local Rockford author and historian, Kathi Kresol share about her finding in her research about the Scandinavian Cemetery. She will delve into the history of these sometimes flamboyant and quirky people who helped settle the Rockford area. There will be tales of how they lived and, in some cases, the mysterious ways they died.

If you have not already, make sure you reserve your spot ASAP! You can reserve by getting a ticket on our website (see link at the bottom) or by emailing [email protected] your plans to come and you can pay at the door. We have limited seating and want to make sure everyone can have a place to sit. Also, by sending a RSVP we can ensure we have enough fika for everyone attending. We are still searching for a handful of vendors for our Glögg & Pepparkakor mini artisan market on Wednesday, December 9th. We have VERY FEW spots left so email [email protected] if you are interested. The deadline to submit an application and the participation fee is November 22nd.

In Memoriam: Sonja “Sunny” Beach

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sonja “Sunny” Beach.
A longtime member of the Swedish Historical Society, Sunny generously shared her time and talents with our organization. She played an active role in Midsommar and Julmarknad and served on the board of directors.
Sunny will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.

We had an amazing time this past Sunday at our first annual Kubb and Knytkalas event! Many of us learned to play Kubb for the first from some of our expert members. Even though it rained in the morning, we also had amazing weather just in time for the event! If you couldn't make it this year, we look forward to seeing you next time!
