April 11-30, 2026
San Antonio, TX — Dock Space/Lone Star Galleries are pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition by internationally acclaimed Icelandic artist and architect Guðjón Bjarnason (Gudjon). Opening April 11, 2026, the show will feature a comprehensive selection of his multidisciplinary work, including large-scale hand-painted prints, photographic series, sculptural installations, video, films, and four artist books.
Gudjon’s exhibition will unfold across both gallery spaces, encompassing approximately 124 linear feet. The presentation will include works from his recent wORldScapes series, alongside works from the ongoing I’ceScapes series. Additional photographic works will complement these series, creating a layered visual dialogue between landscape and abstraction, culture and perception.
Expanding beyond two-dimensional media, the exhibition will feature examples of Gudjon’s signature “exploded” steel sculptures, installed both indoors and outdoors. These works reflect the artist’s investigation into structure, fragmentation, language, art history, and spatial dynamics—bridging his dual practice as both architect and visual artist.
A selection of Gudjon’s newly assembled artist books—spanning painting, sculpture, photography, and architecture—will be on display, alongside multiple film works. The latter include two documentaries, one set in Iceland (52 minutes) and other in the US (8 minutes), as well as an art video and a 6-minute video related to Gudjon’s appearance in the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2021.
Both exhibits are curated in collaboration with New York-based international art critic Richard Vine, who wrote introductions for two of the books.

City of Castle Hills and the Castle Hills Community Organization announces the ribbon cutting and opening of the Sculpture Garden at the Commons

209 Lemonwood Avenue 78213

Saturday March 28, 2026

4-7 p.m

The City of Castle Hills and the Castle Hills Community Organization created a unique Art Committee to assist with community development by promoting the arts and culture within the City.

One of the primary goals of the Committee is the creation and promotion of Public Art by developing a Sculpture Garden at the Commons of Castle Hills. The Committee engaged Lana Meador, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art to make the selection of the inaugural installation of 7 outdoor works from submissions of members of the Texas Sculpture Group to be placed throughout the Commons on customized pedestals. Works by artists; Elizabeth Akamatsu, Susan Budge, Danville Chadbourne, Kurt Dyhaug, Daniel Haynie, Dewane Hughes and Laura Sturtz will be on display for a year.

During the year visitors and residents will have opportunity to vote on their favorite work. That work will then be purchased and on permanent display at the Commons. The following years there will be additional work on display until all 7 locations have been selected and purchased. This will create a one of a kind sculpture garden at the Commons where community activities take place throughout the year.

The ribbon cutting ceremony and opening of the inaugural exhibition will take place on Saturday, March 28th from 4-7. The public is invited.

Dock Space Gallery presents Staffs, Sticks and Canes by Greg Elliott.

For many years, Greg Elliott has created staffs, walking sticks, and canes. Typically, these works were made only once or twice a year, often inspired by a particular piece of wood or an intriguing found object that suggested the form. This exhibition marks the first time Elliott has focused specifically on these objects as a cohesive body of work. For Elliott, the cane or walking stick offers an elegant and direct way to approach sculpture. These forms provide an opportunity to apply skilled craftsmanship, explore decorative elements imbued with meaning, and create objects that suggest a utilitarian purpose while existing as sculptural works. This exhibition presents forty examples of these pieces

Lone Star Gallery is proud to present Chuck is my co-pilot, featuring available originals by Chuck Ramirez. Chuck Ramirez is a renown artist and a dear friend to many in San Antonio and beyond. Chuck is my co-pilot became a tag line created for his memorial upon his untimely death from a bicycling accident. Chuck will always be with us and watch over us, guiding us through our lives.

His artwork lives on today as a testament to his prophetic vision. Every day objects became personified, inanimate objects given lifelike characteristics and personalities. Tablescapes photographed like a foreign correspondent covering an active investigation. Documentation of the scene from the night before, the process of the slow changes of a bouquet of flowers, the remnants of a pinata after the party, the empty tray of chocolates. Imagery that instill memories of moments and events in our lives.

Lone Star Gallery is proud to present Earthbound Visions, a group show that brings together five architects whose artistic practices reveal a deep and enduring dialogue with the landscapes, materials, and atmospheres that shape their work. While each artist is rooted in the discipline of architecture, their paintings venture beyond the boundaries of design, offering intimate meditations on place, memory, and the human relationship to the natural world.

In these works, the sensibilities of architects become brushstrokes: an attunement to light, an understanding of form, a reverence for texture and terrain. Yet the paintings are not architectural renderings—they are explorations of the emotional and poetic spaces that architecture often gestures toward but cannot fully contain. Earth tones, horizon lines, and abstracted terrains echo the grounded perspective architects bring to their craft, while the freedom of the canvas allows intuition and atmosphere to rise to the surface.

Together, Tim Blonkvist, Michael Imber, Richard Mogas, Matt Morris, and George Vaughn present a collective vision shaped by discipline but expanded through personal expression. Their works remind us that architects do not solely build structures—they build ways of seeing. Earthbound Visions invites viewers to step into that expanded way of seeing, where the built and natural worlds converge in color, gesture, and grounded imagination.

Opening Reception is December 13th, 2025 from 6-9pm as part of the Second Saturday Artwalk in the Lone Star Art District. 107 Lone Star Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78204. The exhibition is up through December and the gallery is open by appointment. Call Bill FitzGibbons at 210-723-3048 to view outside of the reception times.

Dock Space Gallery is proud to present Natural Tendencies by Diana Kersey.

“This exhibition brings back forms I love: big wall platters, sculpted and glazed handmade bricks, and a mix of pottery vessels. I filled them with plants and animals from South Texas, using draw tools and sprigs to build detailed patterns that put the wildlife front and center. I work by feel—one move leads to the next—so the pieces grow naturally as I make them. After spending much of my time lately on public art, this body of work provided a rare opportunity to be in the studio, experiment, and just play!” — Diana Kersey

When Diana Kersey was growing up in Lubbock, her parents allowed her to dig a mud pit in their backyard. Thirteen inches down, she discovered clay, and she has been working with it ever since.

Kersey focuses solely on clay works, creating both small studio pieces and large public art installations. Her work is known for its strong, spontaneous style and colorful, translucent glazes.

Lone Star Gallery is proud to present Outer Dialogue, a group show featuring Delaney Kate Fuori, Cassia Perez, Audrina Miranda, Julianna Robles, Alya Estala, Soul Dixon, Christina Olvera, Gianna Carruth, and Eden Courtney. These students are enrolled in the UTSA Teen Studio Intensive, part of the UTSA Young Artist Programs. This after-school program is designed for high school students with a strong interest in the visual arts. This academically rigorous program spans an entire school year, with a semester-long college credit option available through the UTSA School of Art. Participants commit to developing their artistic voice and portfolio while also engaging in community and service-learning projects throughout their time in the program.

Outer Dialogue is a curated selection of works that explore the transformation of inner reflection into outward expression. Drawing from past years in the program, each piece represents a deeply personal visual response to the question: What happens when our inner voices are made visible? In a world where young voices are often overlooked or unheard, these emerging artists use their creative practice to express values, desires, emotions, and narratives that are uniquely their own—inviting viewers into a space of empathy, vulnerability, and connection. This exhibition is curated by Kimberly Bishop, Associate Director of the Young Artist Programs at UT San Antonio.Special thanks to Alex Chambley and Hillary Rochow, TSI’s Artist Educators.

Opening Reception is November 8th, 2025 from 6-9pm as part of the Second Saturday Artwalk in the Lone Star Art District. 107 Lone Star Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78204. Dock Space Gallery is proud to present: Animalia, Into the Welded and Wild by Emilano Rebon.

Emiliano Rebon is a metal artist and sculptor whose work fuses craftsmanship with environmental consciousness. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and now based in San Antonio, Texas, Rebon uses reclaimed scrap metal collected from across the city to create striking, life-sized animal sculptures. Each piece is a testament to the beauty of reinvention—transforming industrial refuse into expressive, powerful forms.

His latest exhibition, “Animalia, Into the Wild & the Welded,” invites viewers into a world where the untamed spirit of animals is captured through the hard lines and textures of welded steel. His sculptures breathe new life into discarded materials, highlighting the raw strength and beauty found in both nature and metal.A centerpiece of the show is Rebon’s lion sculpture—a commanding, full-bodied figure forged from strips of metal, bolts, and rods. Its tangled mane of wire, intense eyes, and muscular stance showcase the artist’s ability to evoke movement and emotion from cold, rigid materials. The lion doesn’t just represent wildlife—it roars with the message that strength, grace, and transformation can emerge from the overlooked and abandoned.Rebon believes that “just like the metal found on the side of the road, it is never too late to reinvent ourselves and follow our true passion.” His work stands as both environmental statement and personal philosophy, celebrating the power of creative rebirth.

Opening Reception is November 8th, 2025 from 6-9pm as part of the Second Saturday Artwalk in the Lone Star Art District. 107 Lone Star Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78204. The exhibition is up through November  and the gallery is open by appointment. Call Bill FitzGibbons at 210-723-3048 to view outside of the reception times.
