Today, we had the opportunity to take a hard-hat tour of the Magoffin Home and get a firsthand look at their ongoing adobe restoration process!🙌🏼👀

We toured the home while learning about its history and got to see the restoration team carefully working on the original adobe walls.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn more about historic preservation and restoration firsthand. A special thank you to our guide, Martin Lopez, for showing us around and sharing his knowledge with us! ✨

Life is sweeter with chocolate 🍫

Yesterday, our workshop allowed participants to learn the pre-Columbian history of cacao beans with and create their own chocolate paste by hand. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank everyone who attended the workshop! Also, a huge thanks to Cacao Coyatoc for leading the workshop!

Tag us in the chocolatey creations that you made with your handmade paste from the workshop 😊

Los Portales Museum was honored to participate in a cross-border art exchange with artists and community from Presidio, Texas. Through these community paintings, we celebrate our shared landscapes, histories, and communities.

This exchange highlights the cultural connections that unite our border region and reminds us that art can create meaningful dialogue across distance and time. By sharing images of the places we call home, we continue a tradition of storytelling, creativity, and community that transcends boundaries.

We were also honored to receive artwork by Presidio artist Yosdy Valdivia as part of this exchange, celebrating the creativity and shared heritage of our border communities.

Thank you to El Paso County, Texas and the Big Bend Conservation Alliance in Presidio TX, with support from the Texas Mountain Trail and to everyone who helped make this project possible. Art continues to build bridges across our region.
