We are thrilled to announce our representation of photographer Wendel A. White. His inaugural show with the gallery, "Schools for the Colored," will open April 5, 2025.

Wendel A. White has, for several decades, investigated the complex narratives held within landscapes, objects, and communities. White looks at the often-disconnected histories of Black life and how the ghosts of the past permeate present-day America. His in-depth photographic inquiries are exemplified in three significant bodies of work, Small Towns, Black Lives (1989–2002), Schools for the Colored (2002–2010), and Manifest (2009–present).

"Schools for the Colored," opening April 5 at the gallery, investigates both existing and demolished structures of segregated schools in five states on the southern boundary of the northern US.

Dawoud Bey states, “I often remind people that history explains everything. If one wants to know the basis of a particular condition, one need only look to history for a clear explanation.
