Luna Rienne Gallery

Luna Rienne Gallery Luna Rienne features visual artists working in contemporary mediums who integrate elements of urban culture with traditional techniques.

Our gallery program features urban contemporary painting, drawing, and sculpture that seeks to push the boundaries of color, technique, and fine art. We work with over 150 artists of varying styles and scales yet strive to achieve a cohesive aesthetic. Started as an online clothing boutique called fabric8 in 1995, we opened our current location in 2006 and shifted focus towards the multitude of ta

lented visual artists working in contemporary mediums. Luna Rienne joined the team in 2012 and honed the mission of the gallery, consequently prompting the change of business name in 2013.

We should never forget that everything Adolf Hi**er did in Germany was “legal” and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary was “illegal.” It was “illegal” to aid and comfort a Jew in Hi**er’s Germany. Even so, I am sure that, had I lived in Germany at the time, I would have aided and comforted my Jewish brothers.

Victoria Manalo Draves Park, located at 16 Sherman Street near the 7th & Folsom, was named after a SOMA-raised Pinay who was the first Asian American to win a gold medal as well as the first woman to win two gold medals in diving, for Team USA. Half-Filipino, she experienced severe racial discrimination so had to assume her mother’s last name — Taylor — to train and compete in the sport. Using her non-Filipino identity, VMD was able to join competitive swimming and diving programs and went on the win five national diving championships. She joined the US Olympic team in 1948, where she won the two gold medals. VMD later founded a swimming and diving program in Southern California, and advocated for the Filipino Education Center in SOMA from afar.

Adam 5100 Feibelman is infamous for his labor-intensive multi-layered, hand-cut stencil paintings, which are the basis of his current work — small-scale freehand paper collages from the remains of his stencils and large-scale steel installation in public spaces. A hallmark of his artistic efforts is the palpable evolution in his process. The tools of his trade have become the focus of his work, as are research and discovery, experimentation and practical application. His large-scale installations can be seen at Chase Center in San Francisco, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, the BART Station in Antioch, and more. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, he arrived in San Francisco in 1997 on the California College of Arts (and Crafts)’ Yozo Hamaguchi scholarship to earn degrees in both illustration and printmaking. He continues to live and work in SF.

Images: Masks Off At The Masquerade, hand-cut paper collage, 41.5 x 30.5 in. Home Is Where The Heart Is, hand-cut paper collage, 42 x 30 in. The Suitors, hand-cut paper collage, 41 x 33 in.

David Choong Lee combines elements of graffiti, collage, graphic design, portraiture, and classical realism to create vibrant figurative and abstract paintings. Born in Seoul, Korea he moved to the United States in 1993 to pursue traditional fine art at the Academy of Art. His first major body of work depicted San Francisco’s homeless in the Tenderloin, then evolved to depict the diversity of San Francisco’s population in breathtaking pieces on signature wine and cigar boxes. In recent years, Lee has shifted his focus from the figure to the abstract and geometric. His work is influenced by natural order and elements of physics and mechanics; and inspired by San Francisco and its citizens.
