Union Pacific action today. The locomotive is an HO scale Broadway Limited Union Pacific Stealth 2-8-8-0 with a SoundTraxx Tsunami2 DCC decoder. Kenneth Cohen built the flat car loads, weathered most of the cars, and shot the video.

A quick and easy project. Genesis F unit pilot steps seem to be unobtainium, so when they disappeared from this locomotive, I made made my own from Detail Assiciates #2526 flat brass wire: .015 x .024. The touch up paint is Model Master International Orange (discontinued). Perfect? No, but looks good at typical viewing distances.

It’s alive (again)! I (Wayne) purchased this beautiful model from Paul Chandler six months ago, but unfortunately (and through no fault of Paul’s) it was damaged in transit. Paul walked me through opening it up and repairing the obvious damage, and I found a few more problems as I got into it. Dejected, I let it sit for a while.

Last week, I finally had the gumption to fix the remaining problems and put it back together; I ran it for the first time last night and the results show in the video. Once I replace the rear coupler box and the (air) line to the bell she’ll be ready for service on the Cal Central.

I took the video, and I believe the still photos were taken by Paul Chandler (a few years ago).

Model railroading is not all fun and games; model railroads need cleaning, maintenance, and repairs. With an operating session scheduled for next Saturday, a group of us was out yesterday to prepare for the event.
