From Truly Yours Custom Framing Inc.: This has been an ongoing project for over a year and is still in progress. We were asked to reframe the original artwork of Frank Vrooman of Schoharie, NY. Many of the paintings were in rough shape and needed restoration. This was done by local conservator, Elizabeth Robson
She restored the paintings by removing them from their original frames and then spent countless hours gluing down loose paint flakes and creating some infilling where too much of the original had been lost. Some still show some damage and wear and tear from nail holes from their original framing from the 1950’s. Some of the original frames could not be safely removed from the paintings without causing more damage, so those were left in their original frames. The ones that could be removed were reframed. Many of the paintings were not square, and so acid-free matting was used to square them up to fit in a new frame.
Each individual painting has been framed with moisture absorbing materials behind them and then each collection of small frames were housed in a large frame which is also sealed. The paintings will be protected by Optimum Museum®️ acrylic by , which is the glazing used on each of the large frames that house each grouping of small paintings.
This past weekend we helped install frame number six of a total of eight that will be completed.
These hang in Schoharie, NY in the old creamery building owned by Schoharie Colonial Heritage Association. Various events are held here throughout the year, including some antique shows.
