EXPO CHICAGO - Some highlights of figurative work from the art fair on the Navy Pier! We were impressed by the amount of figuration and especially the prevalence of black artists in the fair.

Arcadia Gallery, as usual, wins best in show for me, with Francis Featherstone's (UK artist) "The Never Ending Story" which was the most perceptually real and intriguing.

New segment from Profane Art! Link in bio.

The most important influence on the visual arts was that the gods whom the Greeks worshiped had human form. Homer even gave them human foibles, which Plato would complain about later as sacrilegious. Greek sculpture starting in about 500 BC began to portray heroic human nudes in a convincingly natural way.

I love seeing concepts for new paintings! These are some of the projects being developed by artists working at the Occidental Fine Arts Center in Pioneer Square.

So awesome to see young artists being supported in developing their own vision for significant work in a full-time residency program!

Please report the "SeattleAtelier" page. Michael Lane, paranoid schizophrenic, has been amping up a harassment campaign on realist painters throughout the Pacific NW.

He has been doing this for years, starting with Gage academy, and prompted one of my artists to obtain a restraining order in 2023, which includes a no-stalking order.

He is now actively harassing the entire community, using accusations of white supremacy as his plausible leverage and an imaginary web of associations to harass everyone connected to traditional painters, including their galleries and art schools.

Do not engage; block and report. Michael Lane is a creep.

Congrats to Martie Rees who unveiled her St. Elizabeth of Hungary at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Enumclaw! A beautiful monumental piece, years in the making.

What can art say about life? Seattle's art love salon has a wall of narrative multifigurative works that remind us of the panoply of human experience: the small moments that make up the fabric of everyday life and the moments that we remember forever. Many of them speak about the many forms of love: the love of caring for a sick child, or that of romantic struggle, love for a lost parent; or love for our friends. And, the victory of love.

Many of these moments we share with others, and some belong only to ourselves. The narrative wall its my greatest curatorial achievement. It is composed of work by numerous artists and it was inspired by Andrew Conru's vision for the show, which has hundreds of contemporary figurative art works by a hundred artists from around the pacific northwest. And, all of it is spectacular. It's the biggest show of its kind, probably anywhere. It reminds us that there has been a cultural revolution in the arts, a grassroots rennaissance happening in the Pacific Northwest and in numerous places around the world.

When art reflects our humanity, we respond to it, with joy and laughter and hugs, and it becomes a way to connect with each other. We are better for it.

"Soon after taking the space, Newberry told me that he had instructed a younger artist to contact me, with the explanation that “the Figure Ground is the epicenter for a revolution in the arts.” When I heard this, my jaw hung open with shock. The project was no longer an architecture studio with walls for art; it was clearly an art gallery. It mattered little that an architect and owner squatted in the corner during open hours. I would definitely need some new clothes."

love her;
hold her close in darkness,
steal the heavy vaporous scent
sublimating from moist skin
into your nostrils.
With a breathy whisper,
exhale inaudibly in her ear,
forming words with hollow lips,
a silence that speaks of anticipation
and let her love you.

The Kiss, Michael Newberry. On view at

What happens when you combine all of your activities and passions under one umbrella? Thinking about merging two of my businesses into a one offering architecture, sculpture, exhibition design, art curation & advising, cultural space planning, concept art, and art journalism. As broad as this is, I am doing all of this, simultaneously, right now. What am I? Who am I? More importantly, who are my clients? Right now they are authors, artists, cultural visionaries and philanthropists.
