Calling all local Shepherdstown artists!

We teamed up with again this year to bring Art In Bloom back this July!

We’re currently looking for 12 artists to submit a piece of artwork for the exhibit. To submit your art, please send a photo of your art piece (it can be 2 or 3D) to [email protected] with the subject line ART IN BLOOM. Submissions close June 5th. (Artwork submissions are open to all themes and are not required to relate to flowers or nature. Then we will pair the art with a local florist or floral enthusiast and they will interpret your piece through botanical arrangements.) If you’re a floral enthusiast who might want to join, email us also!

We’re REALLY excited for this amazing event and can’t wait to see you at the reception on July 11th from 3-6pm. This year, we are doing something a little different and are offering a special preview on Friday, July 10th, as a ticketed event (more info to come, so stay tuned!)

April was a busy time for us here Studio. Here’s recap!

1-7: Our second annual Songkran Thai New Year potluck was a beautiful display of community and culture. We even had a special guest speaker, Archy Jamjun, who was in town from Chicago performing at that week. We celebrated a couple of birthdays while we were at it too! Thank you to for timing that perfectly and the for donating their space and for the community for showing up and sharing a meal with us.

8-12: We hosted another year of Shepherd University student Capstones! We’re so happy to be a space for emerging young artists to showcase their works.

13-17: April’s Cut & Paste club came and went. Our volunteers introduced the theme of Nature and Poetry to tie in Earth Day and National Poetry Month.

18-20: The Poetry Parlour packed the house with local poets and writers sharing their written works. Thank you to for hosting a lovely night of verse sharing.

Thank you to our community for joining us at all of these events!

That’s a wrap for our quilt exhibit, Pieced Together.

We want to thank all of our participants for lending us their pieces, knowledge, and talent. These quilts and textile pieces are an absolute work of art and we are so glad to be able to share it with the larger community. Thank you to our volunteers (.twina & ) for their help in hanging the show and of course, thanks to everyone who stopped by to enjoy the quilts and share a conversation about their experiences with quilts and the history of the craft.

As a part of the exhibit, we also hosted a print making workshop lead by where participants were able to design a quilt pattern and print their own bandanas or tote bags. It was so much fun!

(Unfortunately, we are unable to tag the makers so please feel free to tag them in this post or when you repost - we are so grateful!)
