Today, we remember Gloria Steinem, who passed away on 3 September at the age of 92.

A journalist, author, trailblazing feminist, and avid support of women in the arts Steinem dedicated her life to advancing equality and amplifying women’s voices. Her influence continues to shape generations of women and the ongoing struggle for equal rights.

The Norton is honored to have this photograph, Four Feminists, NYC (1978), by Joan E. Biren (JEB), in its permanent collection—a powerful image of Steinem alongside fellow giants Ti-Grace Atkinson, Florynce "Flo" Kennedy, and Kate Millett who helped shape the feminist movement.

Her voice changed history. Her legacy lives on.
