Meet Christine Bailey: longtime Shreveport resident, gallery founder, and returning Artport artist known for her bold, expressive large-format abstracts.

Christine’s journey into painting began in a roundabout way. After her husband inherited the extensive art collection of his aunt, Gwen Norsworthy (former director of SPAR and the Barnwell Art Center), the two opened Norsworthy Fine Art Gallery in Downtown Shreveport. Surrounded by national and international talent, Christine found herself inspired to pick up a brush herself...and hasn’t stopped since.

She studied under renowned artist Jerry Wray and honed her skills through courses at BPCC, workshops at the Barnwell and Norsworthy, and countless hours in the studio. Her work is shaped by color, emotion, and a love of artistic community, reflected in her longtime membership with Hoover Watercolor Society, Louisiana Artists Inc., and the Shreveport Art Club.

Today, Christine’s work can be found at the Norsworthy Gallery and the downtown Chase Bank branch. And now, her signature scale and color-rich style can be found once again in SHV!

Local musician, music historian, and all-around Shreveport advocate and treasure Winston Hall Music spotted a familiar face while flying out of SHV: his own!

His lovely and talented wife, Artport artist Donna Chance Hall, captured him in his element for her piece for this year’s installation, and we couldn’t love it more. A power couple repping Shreveport’s creative heartbeat in every dimension!

If you’ve been part of Artport since the early days, chances are you’ve got a few of these tucked away, or proudly on display. For each installation, our artists create one-of-a-kind tiles that go home with lucky bidders on Opening Night.

A fixture in the Artport legacy, Linda Beecher has contributed to nearly every installation since the program began. She began painting in 1994 under the guidance of artist Don Edwards and has spent the decades since refining her oil painting technique across subjects like landscapes, animals, birds, and tropical plants. Her work is known for its natural beauty, rich detail, and heartfelt perspective.

Her 2025 Artport piece, 𝘚𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘔𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘮 1950𝘴 𝘓𝘰𝘶𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘏𝘢𝘺𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦, is a love letter to Shreveport’s iconic music history. With reverence and precision, Linda pays tribute to the legends who stood on that stage and the city that shaped their sound.
