Almost a week since Cirque du Lake, and we just cannot get enough of these images captured by Henrietta Wildsmith.

We are SO lucky to have her in our community, lending their eye for unique composition and beauty to each and every local event. WOW! Cirque feels so completely captured in these images, and we once more want to thank EVERYONE who made it so special.

Book Description:

Chrissy Martin’s debut book of poetry, Whole, Holy, Hot, captures a mind and body on fire: illuminated, inflamed, blushed, and charred. Selfhood refracts through a kaleidoscope of pop culture, gender performance, shifting geographies, religious control, medical systems, and violence both intimate and structural–alongside love gathered in doorways and kitchens and the wild light of humor, play, and magic. Wielding theory in one hand and an espresso martini in the other, these poems balance critical inquiry with camp and whimsy. Through formal verse, sprawling prose poems, and whispered gossip, Whole, Holy, Hot challenges popular depictions of disability and mental illness and finds sharp truths in the reality TV confessional booth. This collection insists that every mind and body is already whole, already holy, and absolutely hot.

We can hardly believe this past weekend just happened!

Wow, thank you to every single person who came to Cirque Du Lake 2026 and celebrated with us both Friday and Saturday. We are feeling so incredibly grateful to have such a loving and supportive community behind us.

Thank you to our sponsors and our many, many volunteers, without whom not one bit of this would've been possible. Thank you to the many friends of The Agora Borealis who are always jumping in to lend a hand or calm our nerves when things get a bit hectic, but ultimately turn out just perfectly.

And finally, thank you to The Agora Borealis team, you all are the backbone of this entire experience, and I am so grateful to love and know each of you. 💛

Resonate with Cassie is bringing something truly special to Cirque du Lake 2026 and we cannot wait for you to get a first-hand look.

Cassie McDaniel has spent years creating art from unusual and upcycled materials, and found her perfect medium in pine needle basketry, where her love of the natural world meets her passion for rescuing items from the waste stream and transforming them into beautiful, functional pieces.

She ethically harvests, processes, and dyes Long Leaf Pine needles and other natural materials, and her work has been shown at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, The Pioneer Heritage Center, the Louisiana Folklife Festival, and many venues around Shreveport.

We’re honored to share her art with you at Cirque du Lake 2026. Join us on May 16th from 2–8 pm on Lake Street in downtown Shreveport to experience Resonate with Cassie in person.

About Karin Ebbesson:

This Louisiana-based photographer and multimedia artist moves fluidly between oils, acrylics, wood sculpture, drawing, and textiles to create vivid “dreamscapes” full of color, contrast, and emotion. Her pieces linger in the small details of nature and the beautifully imperfect parts of being human, revealing quiet moments, raw vulnerability, and the deep inner worlds we all carry. Come experience her work in person at Cirque du Lake on May 16th from 2–8 pm on Lake Street in downtown Shreveport and let her art pull you into its rich, emotional stories.

Joining us tonight for some pre-Cirque du Lake fun?

We can't wait to see you at our Literary Event and Artist Reception, starting at 5pm at The Agora Borealis (421 Lake Street) with poetry readings, music and more.

We're so excited to have the Shreve Memorial Library Bookmobile with us tonight as well! For all those lovers of literature, this bookmobile brings the library directly to the community, offering books, audiobooks, and DVDs for all ages, plus the ability to request materials right from the vehicle.

They’re known for serving nursing homes, assisted living facilities, day cares, and folks with limited mobility, as well as popping up at fairs, parades, and summer reading programs, so it feels extra special to welcome them into our arts event space for an evening of stories and creativity.
