Sci-Port Discovery Center is a 92,000 square-foot science and edu-tainment center made up of a Space Center, the Sawyer Space Dome Planetarium, the Power of Play (PoP) Children’s Museum, the Gallery of Intrigue, and Louisiana’s only Digital Laser IMAX® Dome Theatre. PoP is a an enclosed children's museum with our science center inspired by the Shreveport-Bossier region where kids who are developmentally birth to age 8 can learn through the power of play. The new Digital Laser IMAX® Dome reopened in November of 2022 with a groundbreaking laser projection system which uses colored lasers to deliver stunning images and includes a new updated and heart-pounding audio system. The new digital format now allows us to show, not only documentary type films that everyone has come to love, but also today’s biggest blockbusters such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, etc. Center accolades include Best Science Attraction for Kids in Louisiana, Attraction of the Year in Louisiana, and one of Parents magazine top ten science centers in the nation. Sci-Port is a member of the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC), the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) and the LA Space Consortium.
