Fort Dobbs State Historic Site

Fort Dobbs State Historic Site Our mission is to preserve the site of Fort Dobbs and interpret NC's French and Indian War history. For certain events and field trips, a small fee may apply.

Note: the grounds and visitor center are free to visit on normal operating days and for some special events. The reconstructed fort is open for tours every 45 minutes between 9:30am - 11:45am and 1:00pm - 4:00pm, Tuesday-Saturday. As of August 1, 2025, guided tour fees are as follows:
-Adults (18-64): $5
-Seniors (65+), Military: $4
-Youth (3-17): $1

The grounds and visitor center are free.

We'd like to thank the good people at Decor Hint North Carolina for their wonderful article about our site!

We reopen to the public on our regular schedule (Tuesday-Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) starting on Saturday, April 18th.

For the time being, we will be operating on a reduced tour schedule, with regular tours running at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:30 PM, but we will have more frequent tours in the coming months.

We have great news! Fort Dobbs will be resuming normal operations after Friday April 17th, 2026! As we welcome new staff and a new visitor center, we are excited to reopen and begin giving guided tours once more! More information to follow. Plan your visit to come see our site!
