Tinker Studio LLC was founded in 2014 by a husband and wife team as a working artist’s studio. In the summer of 2016, their daughter joined the ranks and Tinker Studio evolved into a larger space, featuring more artist's and designer's work. Meet: verb \ˈmēt\

At Tinker Studio, we believe that making should be FUN. We are all makers. Tinker Studio doubles as a working artist’s studio, so don’t be surprised to see some making going on when you stop in! ‼️ Just a heads up…we are here with normal hours on Wednesday 9/2 and Thursday 9/3 (10-5), and then we will be closed 9/4 - 9/17! Stop in to see us before our post-summer break! ✈️

🧶 And…that’s a wrap on this summer’s community weaving! We need to leave a little space at the top so we can eventually take it off the loom and do our finishing work to mount it.
Our final contributors hailed from all over Michigan plus Minnesota, Ohio, Maryland, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and Zimbabwe 🇿🇼!
Themes of centering from this group of weavers included music, pets, peace, invention, water & waves, being outside in nature and singing favorite songs.

We have LOVED watching this community weaving grow over the past couple of months. Celebrating community with locals and visitors alike and pausing in our busy days to co sided what centers us has been a gift!
We’ll keep the weaving displayed in our window for a little while, and eventually will take it down to finish the mounting in preparation for it to return around the holidays and our annual charitable drive drawing. Stay tuned for more details on that as we get closer!

Join Tinker Studio for our third artist reception of the 2026 summer season! We’re exploring the idea that creativity is not linear, and allowing room for creativity to show up in different ways is, indeed, part of the process...for all of us!

We’ll be hosting local Traverse City artist and Tinker Studio co-owner & instructor, Mary Kay Burbee who will be on hand doing a live art demo and to discuss her recent artistic pursuits. Come see some of her new work and gain a unique insight into her creative process!

Enjoy sips and nibbles as you shop the gallery and soak up the feeling of a warm summer evening!
