Troy Historic Village The Troy Historic Village is a collection of 11 buildings surrounding a gazebo and green in the heart of Troy, MI.

Filled with the collections & stories of the settlement & growth of Troy, we use these buildings to bring history to life for visitors. The Troy Historic Village includes eleven historic structures in a charming five-acre complex located in the heart of Troy, Michigan. Here visitors of all ages can explore Michigan history by witnessing and sharing the lifestyles of the pioneers who established homes and farms in rural Troy Township during the 1800's. The carefully restored and fully furnished buildings include:

• A log cabin (1840)
• A Greek revival home (1865)
• A brick one-room school (1877)
• Print shop
• Wagon shop
• Town hall (1900)
• A general store (1918)
• A turn-of the-century church and parsonage

Check in at the Main Building (Old Troy Township Hall) and check out the gift shop before you leave. The Troy Historic Village serves the counties of Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb, providing a memorable and interactive museum experience for all vistors. Offering a wide variety of activities for children and a diverse range of lectures and events for adults, the Village aims to enhance appreciation of history while using Troy’s rich and evolving story as a backdrop.

We will be having a Thursday Talk (also known as Thursday Tea) today, October 15, at 2pm!

Dissatisfied with mainstream society, tens of thousands of Americans turned to over 100 utopian societies looking for a better way of life in the 19th century. The Village will be Open Late today, October 14, until 7pm and the Villagers will be at work! History Interpreters will be demonstrating food preservation techniques around the Cabin. Come explore the Village, chat with our Education team, learn something new, try a new scavenger hunt, and more! Depending on the weather, visitors are welcome to bring a picnic dinner to eat on the Village green or at one of our picnic tables. Village will be open from 10am-7pm, with History Interpreters out in the Village from 4pm-7pm.

Bring your reading to life by putting yourself in the shoes of some of your favorite characters from historical books! The next program in the series will be on Tuesday November 10 from 4:30-6pm. We will be focusing on the story of the American Girl Doll Samantha who grew up in an upper-class New York in 1904 and her friendship with a servant girl opened her eyes to the way other people live. Participants will learn about the social conditions of the era and make a craft to take home.

This program will run for approximately 90 minutes. Appropriate for ages 7 to 12. Participants do not need to have read the book, but it is suggested. Kids must be attended by a paying adult.

🥣 Oops! All berries! Just kidding! This isn’t a box of colorful Cap'n Crunch cereal, it’s a bunch of colorful scarecrows! And they definitely don’t fit in a box. You could even say they’re leaping out of the box! Ceral-sly, these scarecrows are so creative and the Village looks grrrrrreat when we’re surrounded by ‘crows. 🥄

Registration is now open for Trick-or-Treat at the Village! Join us Friday October 23 or Saturday October 24 for a swimmingly good time! Enjoy ocean-themed games and activities as your family explores the Village. Families can expect to spend 1-2 hours at the Village playing games, doing activities, making a craft, collecting candy and other treats, and making memories! Register in advance at TroyHistoricVillage .org to receive a discount and early access to the Village!

🥨 The Village totally dough-lighted to offer a Historic Bread Making Classes focused on Pretzels this fall! Join us on Saturday October 17, 10:00am-12:30pm. 🥨

Join us for a hands-on baking workshop where you’ll learn the art of traditional bread making! You'll learn the basics of using a clay oven and explore early American bread-making techniques. Do knot miss it!

Wheat a minute, how is the Village offering a bread making class? A special oven was constructed as part of Anson Pingree’s Eagle Scout project this year and reflects the design and craftsmanship of historic clay ovens.
