Did you get a rain last night after that fabulous storm in parts of Tucson? Looking outside this morning, it felt like a scene straight out of this painting 🎨
Diana says that she “painted the triptych (three separate panels that comprise one painting)… after some wonderful rainy days in the Catalina Mountains. When the sun came out again, the cactus bloomed, the saguaros plumped up, and the dormant desert flowers sprung to life”
The Madaras Gallery’s Director, Kiley, also says this is one of her favorite paintings of Diana’s because “it evokes that magical moment during
monsoon season when the storm has passed. The air feels cool and fresh, and the desert glows with renewed intensity. The saguaros appear greener, the mountains more dramatic, and the turquoise sky seems almost electric.”
Kiley also notes that “Diana has a remarkable ability to translate that fleeting experience onto canvas, allowing viewers to feel the energy, color, and wonder of the desert coming alive after the rain.”
