INSPIRATION - Diana Madaras' 2026 Annual Show - Artist Reception on Saturday, November 14th from 11am-1pm. RSVPs are requested from the Madaras website.
At this point in her acclaimed artistic career, Diana Madaras turns her attention to the force that has animated her work from the beginning: Inspiration - that moment when observation becomes possibility, and the ordinary demands to be painted. In her new show, titled "Inspiration," Madaras invites viewers into the creative process of an artist whose eye has been sharpened by more than three decades of painting.
For Madaras, inspiration begins with an instinct for noticing moments others might pass by. She takes hundreds of photographs, later studying them to discover which might hold the beginnings of a painting. Those with potential join a growing stack beside her easel, waiting until one speaks to her.
"When I am ready to begin a new painting, I r***e through the photos until I find one that triggers inspiration at that moment," Madaras says. "I use the photo as a starting point and then let the creative process unfold." It is in that unfolding that Madaras has built her unmistakable artistic language.
"I can't wait to take the journey through my paintings," she says, "all beginning with an 'inspiration.'"
This exhibition will unveil 25 new original paintings, sparked by moments quiet and surprising: sunlit steps along a hillside, a flower arrangement from her husband, or an owl taking flight from the top of a saguaro. We hope you will join us to celebrate the talent and artistry of Diana Madaras!
