Here I am with Bryan Andrews , the star performer at the event at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa on Friday night. He brought the house down…What a great night it was and I am so proud and honored to have been part of it, along with my visit to the extraordinary Woody Guthrie Center . Every American should visit this museum; it’s one of the greatest I have ever experienced. Thank you, !!

Bette Midler has received the 2026 Woody Guthrie Prize.

This award recognizes individuals who embody the spirit of Woody Guthrie's social consciousness and musical legacy.

"Justice doesn't always come from the courthouse. Sometimes the law is late, overdressed, and on the wrong side," Middler said in her acceptance speech.

What a gift to present the 2026 Woody Guthrie Prize to the incomparable Bette Midler!

"Sometimes, as Woody taught us, justice comes from a beat-up guitar,” Midler said after accepting her award. “You cannot even imagine what this award means to me"

"Bette woke up our neighborhood this year with her powerful rendition of ‘All You Fascists Bound To Lose. She brought Woody back to the fight, back to the protest, the rallies, the ongoing struggle for democracy, and humanity. We are absolutely honored that she has joined our remarkable community of artists who have also carried Woody’s words and music to the fight.” - Anna Canoni
