Located at the core of the University of Alabama Campus in historic Smith Hall, the Alabama Museum of Natural History is a supporting service essential to learning and quality of life at the University of Alabama. The Museum provides an appropriate setting for teaching, research, creative activity and service for students and visitors. Experience the natural diversity of Alabama through exhibits f

rom the Age of Dinosaurs, the Coal Age, and the Ice Age. View the displays of geology, zoology, mineralogy, paleontology, ethnology, history, and photography. See the Hodges meteorite, the only meteorite known to have struck a human, and the State Fossil of Alabama: Basilosaurus cetoides.

Due to severe weather today, the Alabama Museum of Natural History's operations have been suspended. The Museum will be closed for the rest of the day and reopen tomorrow with our regular hours.

UA operations will be suspended today at 2:30 p.m.
All classes (including online) are canceled, and campus facilities will close.

This weekend at The Birmingham Zoo, the Alabama Museum of Natural History led a "We Dig Dinos" program, spoke with visitors about fossils, and went on a Dino Safari during Community Science Weekend. Thanks to The Birmingham Zoo for having us!
