Another wonderful Holiday Open House is in the books! The evening was absolutely perfect—filled with guests touring the museum, delicious food, and the soulful holiday sounds of saxophonist Mr. Jimmy Hill.
This special night would not have been possible without the dedicated support of the Murphy African American Museum Board of Management, our amazing volunteers Valerie Autry and Irene Byrd, and most importantly, Pinnacle PC’s Jolanda Hill, whose scrumptious bites delighted every guest. A heartfelt thank you as well to Walter Hawkins for his heavenly velvet minis (Red & Green), baked fresh on the spot and always moist, always memorable.

Today was a simply beautiful day at the Murphy African American Museum.

Each year, we honor and celebrate the commitment and sacrifice of the men and women of our community—and so many others—who have served our country. Today, we showed our appreciation with a special Salute & Brunch in their honor.

Veterans from across our community joined us for this meaningful celebration. We were honored to welcome District 1 Tuscaloosa City Councilman Joseph Eatmon, and deeply moved by the powerful personal testimony shared by David E. Evans Sr., who spoke about his decision to pursue a life of service in the U.S. Marine Corps.

The afternoon concluded with a visit from our very own Congresswoman Terri Sewell, representing Alabama’s 7th Congressional District.

Guests enjoyed a delicious brunch prepared by Pinnacle Personal Chef, Jolanda Hill and Walter Hawkins(Red and Blue Velvet cupcakes) a sweet, savory, and flavorful experience from start to finish! We encourage everyone to support and patronize Chef Hill and her wonderful business.
