in 1864, Lincoln's Secretary of War Edwin Stanton moved his family back from the Soldiers' Home, where he also spent the summers of 1862-1864 in a cottage close to Lincoln's Cottage.

Lincoln came to rely heavily on Stanton's advice, and their summers at the Soldiers' Home brought them closer together. 🎩

The Lincoln family moved to the Cottage in the wake of eleven-year-old Willie Lincoln's death. They sought a place of quiet in their immense grief.

It's been five years since we opened our exhibit, Reflections on Grief and Child Loss. This , we reflect on Willie and the other precious children who inspired the exhibit.

We hope you'll visit.

Behind the camera at our first comedy night of the season featuring surprise guest Cipha Sounds. Every Two Faces show honors an aspect of Abraham Lincoln's legendary sense of humor by having first rate comedians perform at the home where he lived for a quarter of his presidency.
